Well we want YOU! We want you to join the ever first Youth Australia Scrabble Players Association otherwise known as YASPA!

You may already know that playing Scrabble offers young people a fun and engaging way to improve their vocabulary, spelling, and critical thinking skills, while also fostering social skills and boosting brain health. It can also provide a sense of accomplishment and create lasting memories by making new friendships.

Scrabble is an amazing brain workout!

Every part of your brain gets a turn to shine. And for young people, whose brains are primed for learning, Scrabble is a great way to practice a diverse array of skills. Of course, Scrabble is a word game first and foremost.

Adding and multiplying the scores of your plays and keeping score is just the start. Tile tracking and time management and using probability and more advanced calculations into their decision-making. As a young person, finding new friends with similar interests and hobbies is really fun.

Scrabble has lots to teach young people about life. Scrabble is a game where the better player wins most of the time, but there’s a significant luck element involved too. You can’t win every game, and you have to learn to lose with grace and humility. This is a wonderful lesson that many young people

You could even represent your state or territory at the Australian Junior Scrabble Championship (AJSC) or even Australia at the World Youth Scrabble Championships.

If you’ve ever been to a competitive Scrabble tournament you will notice that there aren’t that many kids playing there. The people you play against are usually old and retired and have grey hair. Won’t it be great to play against children your own age and ability! Wouldn’t it be cool to have your friends, school friends, siblings and even your parents playing Scrabble with you or against them.

It’s a great feeling when you make a BINGO, get higher word scores and high game scores when playing competitive Scrabble. You can even watch your personal national ranking and rating go up when you win each competitive Scrabble game.
